Course Descriptions
Saving Life: The Hygienist's Role Presented by: Gregory J. Folse, D.D.S. This lecture details oral health/systemic health links; when, where, and how to treat medically vulnerable patients; and give practical instruction on meeting their dental, medical, and pyschological needs.
A Healthy Diet: Is It Damaging Teeth? Nutrition Guidelines for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and the Impact on Oral Health Presented by: Luisa Nappo-Dattoma, RDH, RD, EdD This course will review the nutrition guidelines of Healthy People 2010, My Pyramid Food Guidance System, and the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005. The focus will be on dietary standards and goals, diet trends, and risk factors associated with diet and health, prevention, and disease. An emphasis on dietary habits as they relate to oral health and risk factors associated with tooth wear, dental erosion, and dentin hypersensitivity.
